I have an old viv that I didnt seal. Animal waste and water has been absorbed into the base on one side, there isnt too much damage but it needs sorting. It hasnt been used for a few weeks so it has been airing.

I tried sanding it, but its hard not to take the finish off the side. My next plan is to seal the base with varnish, and then stick down some old laminate flooring using aquarium selant to stick it to the bottom and seal the sides.

Any opinions? Also, would it be ok to house another snake in it after this (as long as I do a clean job)?

Bit late now Kaz, I've started.

Im not sure what I want Lee, looking into getting a japanese rat snake. If I do, I wont be using this viv anyway, I will get a 4ft.
Kazerella Posted - 08/08/2009 : 14:13:08
I would just sand it anyway, then seal it. You won't be able to see what it looks like when the substrates in anyway
lee2308 Posted - 08/08/2009 : 13:50:53
What you planning on getting matty?
Remmy Posted - 08/08/2009 : 12:44:39
You wont be able to sand it matty as it is laminate, you will just take it down to bare chipboard. As long as it has dried out, seal it and it will be fine.

If you seal it, it should be fine and no problems with another rep going in there if clean.
