Posted - 02/09/2009 : 13:13:46 In my short time on the forum there is one thing I have noticed that happens a lot. People ask for help on any given situation, i.e. keeping heat right in a viv. The usual response from members is "I need more info, can you tell me..."
My idea to help not only the people asking the questions get a quicker response, but also to aid the helpful people on here who ultimately always ask for more information, is to set-up a list of general information for people to provide when asking their questions.
Depending if you think this is a good idea, it may even be best to add this to the forum guidlines as a help to new members seeking advice so they know what info is needed, or just keep them near by so when someone does need to ask for further info they can just copy paste the bits they need.
So in other words: -
SNAKE INFO How old is your snake: Weight: Length:
VIV SET-UP: Heating method (i.e bulb or mat): Stat type: etc etc....
Might save the same questions being asked day in day out, and if people keep adding to the list it could end up being very comprehensive...
Sorry if i'm stepping on any toes by suggesting this!

That is true, didn't think of it from that angle. In my job everything is about process and efficiency, but everything is system not human driven so i get a bit carried away with trying to 'systemise' everything |

Posted - 04/09/2009 : 01:27:52 i have thought the same thing before in the past and have suggested a few times to people about using the search option. But I think that most questions come when people initially joy the forum and not only is it a way for them to gain assitance/advice but it is also a way for them to get to know people on here and see what a great forum it is. i think a template for info would be good idea but on the other hand it also makes it all a bit impersonal and automated. |
