Posted - 16/10/2009 : 12:11:45 As some of you on here know, i took on a royal that was not feeding...well only every three weeks on a pinkie assisted ...
so i went the live route with her and she has been happily gaining weight and feeding on multis...
slowly the last month i have been giving her the odd fresh kill with a 25-50% success rate..
today she shed, so feed time..
Success....she took a fresh kill with no hesitation..
so i am well chuffed..
hoping it was not hunger and the next feed she will do the same again..
fingers crossed eh

Posted - 18/10/2009 : 10:19:18 Thanks Ali...it is a relief that we are slowly getting there,
I am hopeful that it was not just the shed and her being hungry as she has taken them before, but its normally after having her first one live..
So next feed i am going to try her with a live rat weaner and then a fresh kill rat weaner as it has been all multis till now..
so fingers crossed... |

Posted - 18/10/2009 : 06:43:25 fantastic news Anne!
i remember how thrilled i was when Bo took his first defrost after being on live (didn't go the fresh-killed route with him but it's a good ideea to) it still took a couple of months of intermittantly feeding live and offering defrost before he'd regularly take defrost but i can now can him a 'defrost feeder'........such a HUGE relief
don't be disheartened if you have to offer a few live feeds in the cross-over period, i know you'll get her there hun *hugs* |
