Hi all, i am proper stressed at the moment.
I really want to get some decent racking to keep my royals in, so as to improve (grow) my collection.
We don't have a lot of room indoors, so racking would be ideal.
But, seriously ..... have any of you ever tried to locate some.
I ordered a rack from freedom breeder, just before they disappeared, luckily i got my money back.
Only other main retailer appears to be pro-racks, but slightly above what i can afford at the moment.
There appears to be some various people making rub-racks from mdf or other woods, but preferably wanted the rack to be lidless, so i'm not sure how mdf etc would hold out.
I'm rubbish at woodwork , so i wouldn't dream of attempting to build myself. Anyone know anywhere i haven't thought of????

Good luck with your breeding, you never know i might be in a position to buy from you at a later date. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you too. Found out last night by the way, the rack i've ordered won't fit through the door.
The rack is 100x96x76 the doorway is 74cm wide.
I feel like an absolute

Next in the collection will possibly be a male bumblebee.
If freedombreeder had supplied my rack when i ordered it, i would have already purchased one.
Missed out though as i had nowhere to keep it when it became available.
Then another female morph (undecided) so as to give the male bumblebee someone else other than my female lesser to play with. But it will have to be a morph that can produce exciting possibilities.

Hiya addicks, sorry mate but I built mine. I'm by no means a diy expert just took my time.
I use mine with rubs with lids, just thought it would be better for humidity.
Just follow a plan and adjust the measurements to what you want. B&Q cut
all the wood to size for you. Over the period of a week just stopping in there
I managed to get all off cuts. Built a 33l rack which hols
6 rubs for about a £10, can't go wrong. Also if you use mats
There's no need for routing etc. About to build a 9l rack so you
could copy that.

Cheers RoyalBob but i decided to go with a custom built rub rack.

It's cost a fair bit but everything will be fitted and ready to go, just need to plug it in so to speak. Should arrive within the next week or so, just gotta hope we can get it up the stairs and through the bedroom door. maybe i should have checked that before ordering. Oh well can always make the doorway wider. lol

Good luck!

Cheers guys, i should have mentioned.....i've searched RFUK etc. I've had quotes from alex at al's rub-racks, they look like top notch racks, but just concerned that the mdf might have problems with moisture soaking in, with the lidless version.
I could get a lidded version but that seems to defeat the point of getting a rack. I'm just not sure. Having never had one before i just don't know what effect it would have....it may be absolutely fine.
Thats why i'm stressed.......it seems the most logical and affordable thing to do, but who knows????????
On RFUK there are some people advertising metal shelving for 33l and 50l rubs......i would be after 33l, but they don't seem to have replied to people who have put questions on their posts, so not worth me asking questions on there. But can't find anywhere online that sells them.

Feel free to delete this if cross posting isn't allowed, but I did just find this on RFUK.

Hi, I don't know if it's easy for you to get to Essex but there is someone on Preloved selling 3 18 bay rack systems with 9l rubs for £175 - not clear if this is each or for all 3 (no heating or stats.) Not using racks I don't know how good a deal this is.

Or you could try Ebay or RFUK??

Good luck.
