Posted - 24/04/2011 : 14:08:41 right, i have set up bullets 3ft tank finally, and have got everything in it inc bulb and guard, now the problem is the heating. i have the stat probe just on the floor next to the huge hide, and i have the bulb above the hide. i have been measuring the temps with my digital thermometer on top of the hide to get it to 32.5 degrees and it is there, with teh range being 32.2-32.8, perfect. but then i though well bullet will not hide on top of his hide, he will hide in it, so i put the thermometer probe inside his hide to find out what temps that was getting to, and it was at 26 :O. i am now back to basics again and confused, can you tell this is the first time i have set up a dimming stat and bulb lol so what do i do?? get the inside of the hide hotter, but then the top of teh hide will get hotter, and could become over 35, or have i done it right with the top of the hide being 32, but to me the inside is a little cold. all help is needed lol, and if you need any more info just ask also where do you put all your probes in a viv?? |

If I put my dimming thermostat up to heat the inside to 32 then the top of the hide gets in the 40's which is far too hot |

I actually have my probe just to the side of the hide but still in the hot spot. 26 is good as its not in the direct throw of the heat bulb that is ambient temperature, Sounds perfect to me, Bullet will be impressed. |
