Posted - 11/05/2011 : 08:52:24 I have a ceramic 150w, but after 9pm the heater is more or less OFF as the natural temp in my house is 21c (70f) without the central heating on. |

Sounds like yours is duff too with those readings. Or your probe is too close to the heat source.
Sounds reasonable if he is using a heat lamp. That thing zaps humidity really quick.
So yeah, if your humidity is really high and the gauge is not faulty, try using a heat lamp - that will lower that humidity in a jiffy. |

Posted - 09/05/2011 : 20:31:43 must be duff because there no condensation, in the bin it goes |

Posted - 09/05/2011 : 19:58:42 at 80%+ there would be condensation on the glass, if there is no condensation your getting duff reading. |

Posted - 09/05/2011 : 19:34:12 As a bit of reassurance Royals in the wild actually live in areas were the humidity levels are higher than 80%. Not that i for one minute believe that your setup would be anything like that, sounds like a wonky gauge. |

Posted - 09/05/2011 : 11:15:05 I had a hydrometer with a reading of 80% on my first viv, I fixed it by throwing the Hydrometer in the bin :P
They seem to be rather dodgey little things, if your viv is set up correctly and the room you're in doesn't contain a swimming pool you should be fine and looking at a faulty hydrometer, if the thing changes when you take it out the viv to a normal reading then try putting the probe in the viv and leaving the viv doors open for a while to see if that makes a difference (Preferably when handling the snake lol don't want an escapee) Just do some tests to see if it seems to be giving a correct reading :) |

Posted - 09/05/2011 : 11:01:21 could it be that your gauge is faulty and that your humidity is not high? Are there any other signs of it being high other than the gauge |
