hi all, myself and my family are moving to malta in the near future and i would like to take my two year old royal KAA with us. i am just wondering about the legalities about the move. where, and how do i apply for a cites permit for the move, can i get him chipped and who do i need to contact about getting him from the uk to malta.

anyones help in this matter would be much appreciated, as we all love him and want him to move with us as he is very much part of our family and we would be devastated if he couldn't come with us.

many thanks to all for your help

Mike Cook

thanks to all for your replies, wasn't sure if Defra was still in place (you know how governments love changing names of departments) Lol! thinking about getting him chipped, and a health check, only real worry is Cites permits. have spoke to someone out here who says that malta charge a registration fee, but that's about it. for the questioners about where i am going to stay. i am staying in st julians at the moment but will be moving to pembroke within a month.

will look at the defra website about the cites permit.

again thanks to you all. will keep you posted about developments.

i was told that you can get snakes chipped by one of the other halfs bosses, a vet. he said they have to be fully grown though

Hi, there was a thread a while back about importing snakes, and the OP was advised to contact DEFRA - so they should know about exporting too. Hope this helps and hope you can take Kaa with you.
