She has taken her 2nd feed and is digesting as i type, will give her another feed next week and then try her, she is very head shy so i have some work to do getting her confident.. but i do like a challenge, Eclipse on the other hand is a git lol

I always try to feed in a seperate tub (personal choice) don't want to hijack the post with a debate about that lol so if it was me I get a sneaky five min handling before I fed him/her as long as your calm and it's quiet when you get the snake out five min or so should be fine :)

She is due to be fed again this evening, so will see how she goes ;-)

When I got my first corns, I'd never heard of the no-handling rule (apart from the 48 hrs after feeding) and they were fine, but then, they're corns. Then when I was getting Shahi a member (from another rep forum) pm'd me and told me that I must leave Shahi strictly alone for 4 or 5 feeds before I handled him... on pain of death! (I thought this was a trifle ott at the time but I was terrified of doing something wrong.)

I think the reason I stick to the rule of 3 feeds before handling is chiefly to cover myself, so that if the snake did miss a meal I wouldn't be beating myself up thinking I'd caused any loss of appetite by handling too early, but I'm a born worrier lol.

Whatever you decide on, Lucy, hope you and Monday enjoy the first armchair walkies, and many more of them.

To be honest I was handling Guybrush from the day I got him home. He was in a pet shop where different people were handling him all the time and I wanted to keep him used to it.

I know everyone says 3 feeds but i`ve never taken notice of this Im going to stick my neck on the line here and people may disagree, but in my opinion if they feed then they are settled.

lol - yes, happens to me too - the other day I think there were seven to feed - and yes, Bob, you're right - everybody went blue at the same time - that's weird ...I go through the feeding table every night and write myself frantic notes about who's next ...and just when I fancy chilling out with a snake round my shoulders, they're all sleeping it off, apart from Shiloh who's just started to eat properly and is guilting me with gimlet eye after 3 days ...couldn't wrap her round my neck; she'd barely go round my wrist lol. Though even she's sleeping it off tonight ...

Whyever did I think that snakes are an ideal pet because they're there when we want them? WE have to be there when THEY want us lol! (Wouldn't change a thing though.)

Haha, I know the feeling, They do syncronise their sheds and feeding seems to fall badly too, I have 3 snakes, on different feeding schedules, 1 just fed, 1 in shed, one too fiesty because of the smell of food because the other one fed.
Lucy1012 Posted - 14/06/2011 : 21:25:06
it's ok, i will just have to have a feeding rota (pah like that'll really go to plan) So i have 1 free every evening lol...

Aww, lol - you've got another 20 or 30 years ...

Frustrating though, I know ...

Aww, congrats, and on the prompt feeding too, but yeah, two more feeds and then the armchair walkies can begin. And welcome Monday - look forward to pics!
