Posted - 17/07/2011 : 13:10:18 Finally had a fully successful feeding night last night. Well, kind of. Cormoran, the King snake fed fine, as usual, wouldn't expect anything less. Storm, the Boa required a bit of teasing before she struck at the rat. Margwar, the male Royal did okay ish, he struck then had a bit of trouble trying to find the head and untangle himself from the rat.
Now, Serenity was due to have 2 small rats in an effort to get her ready to go up to medium rats. She struck the first rat stupidly fast from under her hide, I fed the rest and lifted her hide up to see how she was progressing with the first one before heating up the second rat. She decided she didn't want her hide lifting up, and refused to go near the rat, it had gone cold by this point, so I heated it up again and tried to offer her it, but she just pulled back. Margwar ended up with the second rat as I didn't want to bother her with a second one. I decided I'd leave the rat in there and sit in there for a little while, she was interested, she kept coming over to it and having a good sniff, but she kept retreating back to her hide. In the end I gave up watching, the others had all eaten, so I left her to it. Came back up about 40 minutes later and there was no rat in sight!
Yay! 4/4 ate!
I also think Margwar knew it was feeding day, he went blue last week and it usually takes him about 7 days from turning blue, it took him 5 days this week, he shed in time for his feed, he must have known! |
