Posted - 12/08/2011 : 21:09:24 Oh well, today was one of those days ...bathroom light/fan switch died on me, no window, ring a friendly local electrician.
Well, he arrived within two hours of my call, sorted the problem, charged very reasonably and started to ask about the snakes, as you can't really miss all the vivs in this house now.
The first one was Shahi, whose viv is next to the bathroom door. He showed off (might know) and elicited much admiration. Downstairs Missy had just fed, but looked doe-eyed and adorable; Shiloh was curled up cutely in her hollow driftwood, and after that, there was ...Ziska!
I felt like a lion tamer. LOL! She put on the full routine but behaved beautifully (well, a bit of bad language and tail rattling.) The electrician said that he and his wife were planning to get a snake and asked about equipment etc and where to buy it. I recommended Surrey Pet Supplies, for everything, explained about flatpack vivs, wish I'd offered a bit more in the way of being there for advice but I mentioned this forum, and hope I've encouraged a future snake owner - he wants something fairly compact so maybe a royal might be right - I explained about the fasting period and he seemed cool with that..
I even forgot to be antisocial lol - snakes really do break the ice eh?
What a joy to meet someone fascinated by snakes! |

I am (as appears to be the case either with forum users or snake owners) a bit socially anxious but for some reasons talking about my animals makes me forget.
LOL, Bob - that's so cool! Wouldn't put it it past them to return for a 'Spot check'!! |

Lol, I can just see the scene by week three, Bob doing his guided tours of the the reptile room to hourdes of sciving tradesmen, like a crazy bunch of extras from the Village People!
Good to see that people are so interested though, it's only a small step from that initial curiousity to ownership (was with me!) |

Although, in honesty, I'm probably not much better...
Yes, it is nice to meet people like that. They don't seem to come round too often, at least not with me. I usually get the "is it slimy?" and "How come you not dead yet?" people : /
We'll have to keep out eye's out for a newbie then ; ) |
