hey all im looking at getting a jcp very soon. i know this forum is for royal's but thought someone here would be able to awnser my question.
ive been reading through various care sheets for jcp but there seem to be a conflicting idea about having a day/night temp cycle with them. as its a hatchling it will have a heat mat in the rub then a ceramic bulb when its in a viv. so do i need to have the heat on for 12hrs then off for 12hrs or leave it on all the time like i do with my corn and rat snakes?
any help will be greatly appreciated

I think the mods would move it for you - however people with carpet pythons will probably notice it on here and you'll be ok!

Hi, could be a good idea to post this in the 'off royal/other pythons section, but, as with any snake, you'll need to supply heat 24/7 and let the thermostat control the temp.

You CAN get stats that will automatically give you day/night temps but in my experience you just don't need to do this, as the night time temp in most houses drops, therefore lowering the ambient temp in the viv; the cool end temp drops, and snakey, thermoregulating, does the rest. But other jcp owners on here can advise more fully.

Congrats in advance on the jcp!
