Just picked up my first Royal this afternoon after watching him feed early this morning, I had asked to see him feed for two reasons firstly to make sure he was feeding (In the shop anyway) and secondly how to do it correctly my local shop were very helpful and he ate a mouse almost instantly so I waited 6 hours to let him get it down a bit and picked him up brought him home and placed him into my Viv under his hide where he stayed for five minutes, he is now inspecting his new pad (Is this normal?) but I am so pleased with him.

Matt

What shop allowed you to move a Royal just after it fed? (6 hours or not)

The snake will be on the explore now looking for somewhere to get comfy and digest its meal, a bit of an odd way round but nothing you can do now, just give it 48 hours of absolute peace while it digests its meal and then you have the fun of the hands off period too. Then you can put up pictures of your new addition.

Curious and feeding sounds like a good way to start in his new home

Congrats! Bless him!

Yes, it's perfectly normal for new royals to prowl about exploring a new setup. Then he'll roll off and stuff himself into a hide and you may not see him for ages ...that too is normal, well, normal for a royal. Welcome home Fred!
