Its done. Built, painted, varnished, sealed, vents, runners, locks, logs, foliage, bags of substrate, guards, electrics.

GLASS! will be arriving this week at some point hopefully. haven't fitted the runners until the glass is here will be easier to get the tracking right with the glass in place (is my thinking but who knows).

Well this is it, the pile of other stuff to go in is in the other room, put a few bits in to show how beautiful its going to be.

The next update should have little snake faces in there.

Looks so good that I want to live in there...go bertie!

Small update, all branches fixed in place, Ivy done, the foliage for the back wall and the overpriced wood chip is getting picked up on Thursday, a few more stats and heat bulb arriving tomorrow. Snakes moving in at the weekend.

So close to the finishing. Just the LED's to sort out (designed and specially made, just ironing out the finer details but as a teaser, they are full RGB Dimming remote controlled lights)

Haha thanks, sure you can use the 6 footer on the top.

Botting, the viv is 6 foot wide, 2 foot deep, 4 and a half feet tall. It weighs a ton too.

No they aren't touching and the final arrangement hasn't been decided but any near the guard will be fstened so they are held away from the guard.
boomslang Posted - 10/11/2011 : 07:06:39
Looking good,Are the fake plants touching the guard? only bring it up,as one of mine moved the plant/pushed it into the guard and it melted lol.

Its from Dunelm Mill, its £3.50 for about 6 foot of it.
lemur Posted - 09/11/2011 : 23:21:50

Lotabob Posted - 09/11/2011 : 22:47:08
OK I cant help but keep posting about this, I have started the fitting out of the Royal Suite. There is still the bits he is using in the old viv to go in but i cant believe how well its looking. It really is a dream come true.

Lotabob Posted - 09/11/2011 : 20:22:07
I ended up using a diamond hard clear gloss varnish by ronseal. Couldn't find yacht varnish anywhere but the ronseal seems to do the same thing but also is strong against impact.

I have ran the heat bulb full blast in each viv for a few hours but will also do the same for 24 hours once the glass is in.
chrisc Posted - 09/11/2011 : 19:26:29
looking really good. was it yacht varnish you used?
i read somwhere or was told on one of the forums i use that you should setup the vivs with the heating running for a couple of days to fully cure the varnish as apparently it realeses some more fumes when the heating it running
Lotabob Posted - 09/11/2011 : 19:06:07
Excuse my outburst but THE GLASS IS READY TO PICK UP. Only problem is I have to wait until the weekend as I'm working all week.

So excited now, Duke in for the weekend maybe.

It looks amazing, such a great idea, love it!!!
I still have some spare room in my living room, wanted to put one or 2 vivs there, but now I´m thinking about stealing your idea :-P
Lotabob Posted - 07/11/2011 : 22:33:02
I'm not sure of the exact cost involved i will total it all up soon. Probably about £150 for the wood, screws, paint and varnish. £55 for glass, and probably about another £100-£150 worth of kit off the top of my head. I have just thrown the receipts in a box. I have another £200 shopping list for next payday too for ceramic bulbs, a few new stats and the LED lighting. Then add some more for the decor. It hasn't been cheap but I decided I'm only doing this once so just to go mad lol.
