Posted - 24/12/2011 : 10:38:32 A lot of true dwarfs are dark in colour , I would say u have a sonoran , males stay small max around 5 give or take with female bigger , they can get nice and chunky . To be honest I started with a dwarfs and lexi was advertised as a dwarf by the seller but is a dwarf cross and as u can see from vids she's bot exactly small , but to be honest we are used to het size now and how to handle her so if she did get big I don't mind . And Rudi may well top out at 9 ft like her mom, she's already a chunk . Welcome to the boa club , I bet he won't b the last boa in ur collection ;) Don't worry bout him turning his head , its general boa nosey Ness , if he wanted to bite he would have by now , but it seems he just wants to greet u xx |

Posted - 24/12/2011 : 09:51:24 Thanks so much for advising to get a Boa blackskull, he's such a sweetheart and even after a day not shy at all. I took him out of the bag with my hand when we got home..I wore him like a close fitting glove for ages:)
The pet shop told me that the breeder in Glasgow just said he's a Mexican Boa..that doesn't tell me much..what do think he is? |

Posted - 24/12/2011 : 09:34:15 he is gorgeous.if its a true sonoran you don't need to worry about him hitting 12ft. males tend to grow between 4-5ft and females 5-6ft |

Posted - 24/12/2011 : 00:36:44 LOL he sounds pretty benign, bless him! |

Posted - 24/12/2011 : 00:29:26 Trouble is he's cute when he does it..no sign of aggression just too damn nosey lol He flicks his tongue as he closes in..then just waits..its a strange feeling..then I scooped him up, not knowing his tail was clinging on to his hide, so lifted both out..now bed talk laters :) |

Posted - 24/12/2011 : 00:24:38 Ah right - I feel so apologetic when royal heads wince at my every movement; at the other end of the scale, every time I pick Ziska up, I KNOW she'll strike, just have to keep still ...so I find corn 'helpers' very cute ..
Don't know what to advise really ...personally would just say, ok, I know you're there, you little sod, but as I've never lived with a boa ...
Must say it still sounds like fun though. |

Posted - 24/12/2011 : 00:10:53 Nooo Bats its not fun, least not for me lol I'm still a little wary, not used to my every move being tracked by a boa *grins* |

Posted - 24/12/2011 : 00:08:24 He sounds like my adult corns - if I need to clean out there is usually a snake following me and the scoop and 'helping' - keep having to gently push them out of the way; they always come back - 'ooo Lil, I'm here, isn't it fun Lil?'
Lol |

Posted - 24/12/2011 : 00:02:28 He is a sweetie Laws, I mean tonight I had to take him out of the faun to clean him out. He brought his nose right back on my hand and I thought "Uhoh, here goes" but he didn't do anythig at all :) I picked him up and Steve took him from me while I changed his paper. All he did was coil around fingers, then back to me. Returning him through the top hatch was tricky cos every time I eased him inside..out came his head..took several attempts.
I would have never have believed the difference between two snakes, Slinky is a little darling, but Fea definately has..hmm not sure what exactly but he is totally different. |

Posted - 22/12/2011 : 23:39:17 u just have to go in confident , my boas turn towards my hand and i think lotabob has a good video of his boa doing the same . i wouldnt worry u will get used to it , ive been bit by rudi before and i didnt feel it at all as shes so tiny . |

Posted - 22/12/2011 : 23:30:18 Hiya Laws,
I watched your video, tv remote caught her attention..had typed out a reply and damn puter froze. He will take some getting used to cos whereas Slinky doesn't move when you pick him up..Fëanor follows my hand lol its quite unnerving. |

Posted - 22/12/2011 : 23:27:03 Thanks guys :)
I just peeked and he's curled up on top of his log, and Slinky stretched out in the open, that's the first time I have seen more than his nose poking out lol |

Don't get used to it, Boas are lazy beasts too.
Lovely looking Boa, I love the iridescent sheen. |
