It's a case of different suppliers, Richard.
A&N are much more specific - if you want to buy 50 medium weaners at 45g each, then that's what they'll supply.
But TSM, who I also use in addition to A&N, just supplies a bag of 'weaners' which vary in weight as you describe.
There are advantages to both systems when you think about it - buying a mixed bag of weaners for one or two young snakes means you can begin feeding the small ones and progress on to the large ones; someone with a large number of growing snakes might prefer A&N's more precise weight of weaners supplied.
Can't comment on other suppliers as I haven't used them, but can recommend both A&N and TSM for good value and quality and reliability, but that isn't to say there aren't other good suppliers out there - who will vary yet again - I think I tried to make it clear that every supplier varies and I can only quote the guys who I've dealt with ...
Whoever you prefer, it sure beats what I used to do in my new snake keeper days - trailing up to the local rep shop and buying mouse pinkies at 50p each lol! |

I'm with you this chart makes things a little confusing, I'm using large weaners
. I have never seen weights like this before assigned to those rat types,
My rats for my royal are medium weaners and weigh 50-90gms.

Yup - going by feeding 10/15% of the royal's weight, a rat fuzzy (oops sorry Bob! ) at approx 19g would be fine. |

You left out 'chub'(ie rat pup.) And for all I know 'mouse chub' too.
It's hopeless to try and suss out why the differing terminology. Like you, Bob, I just use the terms I'm used to, and it's not hard to work out what a different term may mean. I'm more interested in the price of the critters, frankly.
After all a rat by any other name may smell as ...well, no perhaps not but you get my drift ... |

I think this chart that is commonly used is a bit flawed. See for me and others too a pup is a new born rat, then a fluff, weaner, adult sizes. Not sure where this rat pinkie comes from and rat fuzzie comes from either. I've had this discussion with a few keepers and even a supplier and they dont know what its talking about either. |

its funny how measurements and sizes change.
my rat weaners are from 50-90g (can get bigger weaners though) and then my small rats that bow eats are roughly around the 150g range. |
