Posted - 06/04/2012 : 21:43:43 Hello guys was just wandering if a royal & a corn snake would get on okay? Both are the same age but the size is dramatic lol. The royal is mine and the corn snake is my little brothers. |

Posted - 06/04/2012 : 22:02:25 Get on in what situation? Handling at the same time, co-habiting? Personally, I wouldn't handle my corns and royals at the same time, but do sometimes socialise each set with their potential partner on the odd occasion ( corn - corn, etc) but I know there was a guy who posted a while ago who started socialising his snakes together (3i think) who were all of varying species, and as far as I'm aware never had any issues. Hopefully someone can come along in a minute and remember the guys username as I never took note unfortunately. Another issue I' be wary of, is the possible cross contamination of spreading of something potentially unpleasant, but i guess if you can be completely and confidently sure that both snakes are in tip top health and have come from more than adequate living conditions (which I'm sure would be the case as you mentioned it's your brother) then it shouldn't be too much of a problem as long as they are under someone's watchful eye.

Posted - 06/04/2012 : 21:59:03 It does depend on what you mean by get on OK. I have one of each, they live next door to each other and I don't think the snake council has ever had a noise complaint and the snake Police have never had to come break up a fight over boundaries. I would think it very likely they are aware of the close proximity of other snakes but crucially they have their own space, they are not competing over anything. I wouldn't even so much as have them both out at the same time mainly because corns are fast and Royals are strong, there isn't enough of me to properly supervise them both at the same time. |
