some pics would be cool, just... because!!

love torts, we want to get one some day, they're funny little characters... my ex had one that used to ambush his sister in the garden in the summer when she'd be sunbathing!!

personally, i would keep it in a separate room, just to be sure. I have no idea whether a royal could catch anything from a tortoise but for the sake of a week or so, i'd just keep the tortoise table in another room.... maybe i'm just OTT :D but you never know i guess, maybe it's fine!

It does seem that both snakes and tortoises can be infected by protozoan parasites ie worms.

http://www.britishcheloniagroup.org.uk/vetscorner/parasites.htm

http://www.animalhospitals-usa.com/reptiles/snakes/snake-diseases/snake-parasitic-diseases.html

This by the way is only a result of a little idle curious googling on my part - NOT an expert.

Seems faeces can spread these things, but obviously as you're concerned you'll be doing all the hygiene stuff and the reps won't be coming into contact - can't really see a problem myself and the tortoise has probably been wormed anyway; tortoise keeping's much more specialised these days, thank goodness (remember pet shops in the 1950s with the poor things piled up in cages like so many cabbages.)

I believe snake mites are specific to snakes, and even lizards aren't affected. So I'm assuming this is the case vice versa. Ticks will fasten on to any animal but if the tortoise is in an enclosure it's not likely to have met a tick.

Hope this helps, and enjoy your temporary guest - love tortoises.
