No lie!

We were getting ready to go out, I said we'd just need to change the water bowls for the snakes. One had shed.. Or so I thought!
"typical! Shed skin stuck against the side of the rub again, will have to get it off " it looked like just the head piece so I reached over and picked it up. Didn't feel right, took me a few seconds to realize it didn't feel like shed. It was sticky and felt more material like... I looked down at the thing in my hand and I could swear it moved. Back and forth and up and down. Felt my heart race and my head sweat!

" Jesus christ! " a dozen tiny black creatures were inside what was evidently a spider egg sack! All those little legs pushing against the sack, all trying to escape into my hand!
I dropped it down onto the bed and tried to run but my legs were frozen, I couldn't think straight, my head was pounding, my eyes welling up and my whole body trembling I managed to flee the room and wash my hands and arms and head. Gahh!
Looks like owning shelob did not help! The rest of the night I was flinching at every thing that touched me and couldn't sit down, examining the roof and walls of every room I entered!

Just thinking about it makes me feel ill again :'(

What's your scariest moment?

I do a bit of surfing, I went out on a particularly stormy day last year and got caught in a rip trying to get to the bigger waves. I ended up really far out at sea and couldnt really see the shore. I was paddling for ages, but didnt seem to be moving, the weather was terrible and I had no energy. Think it took me about 3 hours to get back to shore, several miles from where my car was. Not fun!!

my scariest moment was last summer when a couple of had to go out on site and change some hinges over on some windows we made. it was in an old cottage with thick walls. now as we didn't take a ladder with us as we went in a car not in the van the only way to get the opening light out was from the inside, one of us holding the light and taking the weight the other (me) leaning over with the drill to to take the screws out. now as i was leaning over (light wide open) my foot slipped on the carpet causing me to fall forward. my saving grace was that the window was low down and the only thing that stopped me falling out of the first floor and taking a head dive on to the road below was my head hitting the wall just above the the window.

Aw No! That is just horrible! I'd have been the same. I'm an arachnophobe too! *shudders*

My scariest moment was last summer when my 4 yr old was in a swimming pool with her aunt. I was inside in the kitchen and saw my little one fall off the lilo she was on but my Sis hadn't noticed. I ran through the place, outside and dove into the pool. By the time I got my daughter out everyone else had figured what had happened and helped me get her out at the side. She wasn't breathing! I pulled her over my lap and gave her 2 sharp taps on the back and she spat up water and started to breathe again. She's absolutely fine and still goes in the water, but strictly supervised!!!!!

I still have nightmares!!

Haha that's understandable! I do boxing, and the other day when I went there was a spider on one of the punch bags, I had to stand about ten feet away and throw my hat at it to get it off lol!

Mine did lol, we were heading to a dungeons and dragons game with my friend (yes we're geeks lol) and I had a whiskey, archers and a few bottles of lager for the night, had to break open the booze before we got there xP

Oh dear that sent a shiver down my spine just reading it! Did it require a stiff drink?
austin_89 Posted - 11/06/2012 : 22:31:22
We panicked and screamed in very manly ways though!! Lol

I'd have done the same thing with the spiders mate! They absolutely petrify me!

lol we are useless men, getting saved by our women by three feet of water and baby spiders xD

Oh my god that is horrific!

I think my scariest moment was just the other week. I went to the beach with the family and went for a little swim in the sea, which Is a big deal for me as open water is one of my phobias! Went out a bit and could still touch the floor but lifted my legs up an had a little float! As you do... Next thing I know I the sea bottom was about 3 feet further down than my feet could touch an I kept going under. I'm not a confident swimmer and once the panic set it I just couldn't do anything! Luckily my girlfriend was there and she helped my get to where my feet could easily touch and safe to say i stayed where I could safely stand! But it was terrifying :(

I told Trixie this story;

I dont think she is very sympathetic.
Kelfezond Posted - 11/06/2012 : 20:52:29
It wasn't big, about the size of a cb11 royal python head lol. The mother I have no idea where she is, for the sake of my sanity let's say she's gone! xD When I say it was inside the RUB I should clarify that it was in fact placed between the two edges of the rub that form the lid, very clever place to hide it if it wasn't for the fact most people can see through clear plastic lol

Jesus that does sound scary Meadow! Glad you react well under pressure I'd have been lost for what to do next!
Meadow Posted - 11/06/2012 : 20:49:49
OMG how big was it????? ...and where's the spider that laid the eggs if that was in your snake rub???? I'm not scared of spiders but your post freaked me out somewhat!

My scariest moment is a few years ago when I turned round whilst washing the pots to find that my then 3 year old was feeding rice cakes to my then 8 month-ish old, and he had so many stuffed in his mouth that he couldn't breath. I had no time to call an ambulance as I needed to clear his airways so I was shoving my fingers in his mouth to get all the bits of rice cake out, then patting his back, clearing some more, patting some more, thinking the whole time, if I call an ambulance, he'll die, I can't stop. It was the longest and scariest few minutes of my life, I thought my boy was going to die there and then in front of me When his scared look finally turned into crying and he took a breath I was so relieved. He was fine, and I was amazed how calm I was and just did what needed to be done to get him into a position of being able to breathe again.

Scariest moment with animals - there are loads, mainly to do with wasps, freaky little critters!

I cannot think of anything worse than that situation! I HATE spiders!! They're weird, and scary, and moves really weirdly, and I just can't get my head round even picking up a money spider!

I'd rather try and tame a bee/wasp haha
