Hey guys, I've just seen something in the tv guide that I thought you may be interested in, it's called fatal attractions, it's on animal planet on Sunday, at 21:00. It's a series about people that keep dangerous animals as pets, this week it features a man who was attacked and killed by his 13 ft python. I think it may be worth a watch.

Thank you for the link. Aren't those just clips though not full eps? I also can't see the on the op was talking about on there.
ajokocha Posted - 21/06/2012 : 15:32:47
That is correct Lincsfox! Also there was some herpetologist on there. One of the first things he said was whenever a snake bites/attacks you, 99% of the time it's down to the owner doing something wrong. So true!

Well, due to the fact that I'm "working" from home today, I have looked at all of the clips on the link, and with the exception of the 2 guys who are extracting the venom for anti-venom I can conclude that as many have said above they are all idiots!

Who leaves a Gaboon Viper to roam around your house whilst you clean it's viv out?

At the risk of sounding snobby, I think the fact that half of the people featured lived on trailer parks in the US speaks volumes.

It's a series but not always about snake's
Pythonwizard Posted - 19/06/2012 : 10:00:33
Is this a series or just one of thing ?.
austin_89 Posted - 19/06/2012 : 09:39:11
I agree with Janie. He wasnt just drunk either, he had cocaine in his system aswell as tranquillisers. If you ask me him being like that and keeping a snake in those conditions was always gonna end badly at some point.
JanieW Posted - 18/06/2012 : 22:45:14
You couldn't blame the snake, it said he half starved it and kept him cold. If he was idiot enough to show off when drunk..well..

I think the gila monster is a venomous lizard not sure of any others though, i would think a Burmese adult would need an enclosure that size a petshop close to me has a walk in enclosure
Pythonwizard Posted - 18/06/2012 : 20:36:03
My thoughts are that first owner shouldn't of had a enclosure that big it said he walked into the cage and banged his head therefore this enclosure is far to big

They guy who makes anti venom is passionate and Iknow if I have been bit few times by venmouse snake I would quit this guy has Proberly saved a lot of life's ( and his wife got bitten by venmouse lizared didn't know you could get them)

As for the overall program I thought it was interesting I can see we're kelf is coming from

For the record just like to tell everyone my favourite venmouse snake is the copper head abousltly adore that snake for some strange reason
ajokocha Posted - 18/06/2012 : 00:30:34
Yea Carl was a nice little collection he had! Think I'd have to pass on the venomous ones as well lol. There should be a repeat at some point during the week unamed, shall keep a look out and let you know :)
Unamed Posted - 17/06/2012 : 22:41:57
I missed it. Is there going to be a re-run at all anyone know?
carlb1981 Posted - 17/06/2012 : 21:45:52

That's what I was going to say. The whole reason they make the programme on these people is because they have been irresponsible. I know what you're saying in a way though kelf, doesn't paint the best picture for someone who doesn't know so much about snakes.
Kelfezond Posted - 14/06/2012 : 18:54:25
Hopefully it's a vast minority! But yeah they're out there.
JanieW Posted - 14/06/2012 : 18:49:57
The blog says that the python first bit the owner's face before constricting his throat until dead. It does say in a feeding frenzy..so if that is the case I would that was stupidity on the keeper's part.

You gotta admit Kelf, there are alot of irresponsible owners out there, musch like Staffie owners..enoigh to give these animals a bad reputation.
Kelfezond Posted - 14/06/2012 : 18:17:29
Seen these series before, not a fan. They have a tenancy to show snake keepers as irresponsible idiots as well as snakes as mindless killers. :-(
