Posted - 02/07/2012 : 20:55:04 Hi all.
I don't really know what to ask here as I'm not sure what I'm trying to do.
I have been reading in the sun about their safer dogs campaign and looking at all the pictures they put of these so called "dangerous" dogs and labelling every dog of certain breeds as aggressive and dangerous. I agree with most of what theyre doing. For example, making dog owners accountable and giving dog wardens more power.
There are so many people out there giving all these dogs bad names when only a small percent of a breed is nasty and the rest are really friendly. I basically want top open people's eyes to how great dogs like staffs can be as many of you on here know. So I would like some advice on what I can do, if anything? I know I've not explained myself very well but it's something I'm really passionate about.
Thanks. |

Posted - 03/07/2012 : 11:13:17 And this is exactly what im trying to change. I just need a little advice on where to begin.
I read something yesterday about a kid attacked by a staff but then they started on pit bulls and English bull terriers and all the others. It really gets to me so i really want to do something about it. At least i know i have some support here |

Posted - 03/07/2012 : 10:52:52 I agree with this too. It's such a shame for Dogs. I've looked after other peoples Dogs, including Staffies, Rotties and German Shepards and non have had a bad bone in their bodies. Mainly, I beleive, 'cause their owners are the same way. The Dogs are well cared for, not smacked around and shouted at and they're trained well.
I live in a chav infested area. A lot of them have Staffies and they get smacked and encouraged to bite etc. It's sad to see 'cause we all know how soft Staffies really are. I love them. So friendly and playfull. Mind you there are also a few people round here with Staffies who love their Dogs and play with them and treat them right. I have to say that. And there's a lad who lives just down from me who has a Mastiff and that Dog is lovely. Soft as anything. But again, the lad who owns him treats him right and keeps him trained.
There was an incident not long back where there were two Rotties and an Akita loose who went out and attacked a young woman and her baby just across the street from me. Turns out the man who owned them was training them for the Fight ring.
...Dogs go missing round here and everyone knows they'll end up in one of the fight rings.
I solidly believe that there are no bad Dogs, just bad people. |

Such an annoyance, a dangerous dog is one not under control, simple as that. I've had to boot a Chihuahua because it flew out of a garden and started attacking my dog that I told not to react as my dog could have pulled its head off if I'd have let him. Dangerous owners is the way it should be looked at, people using dogs as status symbols and even weapons, I know lots of Staffies, Rott Weilers and german shepherds that are very good natured and well behaved dogs, yes they could have been trained otherwise (or just badly trained in the first place) but they were well trained and obedient dogs.
It is a shame that these so called dangerous dogs are actually the dog of choice for morons who see them as a status symbol and not a dangerous breed, there are dangerous breeds out there, dogs with very short fuses but they are already banned as its well known they are loopy.
This is the uk media ban bandwagon,It's always something they take a dislike to.They spread bull**** to people that have no clue, which in turn then vote for a ban etc.Goverment bringing in new laws,to mask the real problems.
It will be another ban on law abiding people, the local chav etc won't take any notice and will still beable to buy/sell staffs etc. |

Posted - 02/07/2012 : 22:02:37 Ok thanks. I wanna start a campaign for people for staffs, rotties and other "dangerous" breeds just to show how they're not all killers.
People have crossed over to avoid my staff before or they make some silly comment. It's pathetic and sad. I once was sat outside a pub and a woman came out and asked me to move as they don't allow dogs on the premises so I sat just outside there ground with him then a woman came and sat down with a big Labrador and was fine to stay?! And we got turned down for a house cause we had a staff. They actually said dogs allowed except staffs. |

Posted - 02/07/2012 : 21:27:20 breeds shouldn't be labeld dangerous imo. its the morons who keep them. my mother has an english bull terrier who is soft as muck. the estate where she lives is a bit rough and the amount of times i have seen the local 'hard' people walking past her house with staffs egging their dog on at my mothers is stupid.
people some how need to be educated even older people were putting their dogs on the lead and giving me a wide birth when i was walking her while my mother was on holiday, but i guess it dosen't help that i have tattoos, shaved head and an ebt on a lead.
and it really wound me up when i walked past a few teenagers sat on a bench when one turned to his mates and said i bet that dog would have my leg off if i kicked it in the head. my simple reply was its not the dog you have to worry about
the trouble is its the people who don't care that give breeds a bad name. |

Posted - 02/07/2012 : 21:20:12 the fb group is StopK9Profiling-End BSL. yes its down to the sumbag chavs that get them because they think it makes them look hard. what makes me mad is these idiot realsie they are friendly dogs so abandon them an also the backyard breeders who breed staffs before they are old enough just to make quick money. most of these an the other abandoned staffies end up in rescue centers an most are put to sleep as they are over run with them. cant remember the numbers but there are thousands of dogs PTS in the uk each week an 80-90% of these are saffies. they are loving an great family dogs if brought up right an well trained as you know they are very powerfull dogs. a friend has one who is nuts, hes extremley friendly just mental an doesnt stop playing/running around |

Posted - 02/07/2012 : 21:11:07 It's not coming up with anything on my phone, I'll look when I'm on the comp.
It's really getting to me reading all this. As a staff owner it's hard to have you watch people look at my dog in disgust. You know how's it is with the APA? People thinking they know everything. |

Posted - 02/07/2012 : 21:03:47 i dont agree with labeling a breed as dangerous, it is all down to the owners and how the dogs have been treated, brought up, trained ect.
this might be worth a look http://www.facebook.com/?sk=nf#!/SK9Profiling |
