I had it controlling a 150w ceramic, worked perfectly, temp was great then it cut out and the bulb works without the stat but cuts out after a few mins with it.

Any tips?
Thanks

Would still cause it to heat up though.

It should still keep the heat under control, even if it got to hot at first. If the viv is to small for said bulb,The stat would be off most of the time, but still work.At which point you would be wasting your cash on a to powerful bulb.

Id still get it returned just to make sure right.

its working fine with a 70w bulb tho I don't really get it either, but 888 reptiles and Birnies pets both said the same, and now its working perfectly lol

it would still work,Just wouldn't turn on the bulb as much.

I bought a 70w ceramic for the 2' viv and the stat is working perfectly :)

So its NOT true that a stat will control the temperature if the bulb is far too high a wattage for the viv.

That can't be right as there rated for 600w,If it's a habistat/microclimate pulse stat then its faulty.

Or is it another make or type ?

That's strange
I can't understand why

I have a 300w heat cable on a pulse stat
and working well

Can I ask what make you have
I think all pulse stats are 600watt loads

The bulb instrctions say to only use with a Exo terra fitting
Ignore that :P Exo terra says that on everything they make

Steve is an electrical engineer, so he is going to run another device off the stat to pull amps, basically to fool it. The stat works, as does the bulb just not together.
The bulb instrctions say to only use with a Exo terra fitting, not a stat.

If that fails have to get a plain ceramic bulb tomorrow..its sitting at 28.9c. Not ideal but nothing else I can do tonight. The rooms is 22.5c so not cold

I know habistat have 5 years
boomslang Posted - 04/07/2012 : 19:13:48
Yeah,Don't they have like a 5 year warranty? Or at least a year plus.
JanieW Posted - 04/07/2012 : 18:59:45
I'll do that thanks, i'm wondering if its the bulb as it says 'only use with Exo Terra' same brand.
Evolution Morphs Posted - 04/07/2012 : 18:22:53
If you contact the maker of the stat they will fix it
I know habistat charge £5 and you have to pay postage
But I've been reading they do it for nothing
Maybe worth giving them a ring

I'm no sparkie, but I'd say you need a new stat.

I've just bought one, cheapest I could find was Surrey pets
