Well, son got Sas last September/October time. He is now on his 3rd house lol. We now have Boris too so i think we have roughly spent about £1000 all together in less than a year! Oh dear! Did I mention my local shop have a normal female? Must. not. go. there.

just for my current ones

£560 on snakes

£1300 roughly on equipment

Yeah not taking into account the fact that cigarettes are now about £2 more expensive at the price I paid 2 years ago I have saved £3650 by not smoking. And I haven't missed it, not even for a day.

That's brilliant, Bob. Best way to quit!
Lotabob Posted - 17/07/2012 : 18:57:36
Haha I couldn't even begin to work it out, it would easily be over a grand. I dont care though if I'm honest, I decided I wanted to keep reptiles but only if I stopped smoking I could use my smoking money. 2 years off the cigarettes and a house full of things that make me happy. Good times, lol.
Fezza Posted - 17/07/2012 : 18:54:04
Ahh, but what would you have spent that money on if you'd not spent it on snakes?

Personally, I don't smoke, do drugs, have kids and only drink every now and then. Gotta spend it on something
Kelfezond Posted - 17/07/2012 : 17:31:44
Absolutely, part of that money is still I've not even got yet but have put deposits on haha! Knew I wouldn't turn a profit in a long time anyway :) It's a dangerous thread this we're really getting a blunt view on how much our hobby controls our life. I only make £11k a year that means I'm spending almost 30% of my total income on reptiles :O Takes my hourly rate from £11 an hour to £7.70 :O ... Time to quit, anyone wanna buy some snakes? ;) lol
Fezza Posted - 17/07/2012 : 17:26:42
I guess that's why that say don't do it for the money

I'm sure without doubt, you'd spend it all over again if you had the chance. That's the allure of this hobby
Kelfezond Posted - 17/07/2012 : 17:20:59
Let's see, I started keeping snakes in September 2010 sooo.

£2010 Roughly on equipment
£4150 Roughly on snakes

So £6160 in 2 years.

And from that lovely investment I've made £700 in breeding lol, not quite turning a profit am I? XD

Edit: oops I forgot Pilkington! Make that £6460 :)
Fezza Posted - 17/07/2012 : 16:30:03
£2300 on snakes this year

£150 on equipment (Rubs+homemade racks rule )
reptiledanny Posted - 17/07/2012 : 12:18:56
niether did i tbh. although i have gone through quite a few setups, and quite a few pieces of equipment etc. 4 viv setups averaging out at about 150 each, and then other bits of equipment on the side of that. could well be over 700 quid.
chrisc Posted - 17/07/2012 : 11:14:10

reptiledanny Posted - 17/07/2012 : 11:11:41
