Hi guys,

I bought Rebel recently from a place where they had a big outbreak of Mites. I was assured they were all gone and he didn't let me take him for nearly 2 weeks.

Just found a single mite walking up Rebels back. Only one I have seen since I got him.

I've just disinfected the tank and everything in it and then sprayed the empty tank with callingtons and everything else individually.

I have thrown his water bowl away as it was too small anyway.

I have given him a little burst of callingtons and put him back in.

Anything I haven't done or should do??

Cheers,

Bram

Thanks for your input guys... No gas for the flamethrower I am afraid Kelf!

Well I presumed it was a mite, it was a tiny little dude which looked completely round with what looks like a hard shell. I did double check with google images and it looked the same as this:

Either way I hope that what I did today was enough. He has been on white kitchen roll since I got him and I haven't seen one, although this was the first time I picked him up today.

I have checked him over and couldn't see anymore. Plus I gave him a 20 minute bath and none were in the water afterwards.

Fingers crossed.

FIRE! BURN EVERYTHING! CLEANSE IT WITH FLAME!

But yeah you're probably okay just keep attacking with Callingtons and keep checking the paper.

You sure it was a mite?and not a bug/fly getting inside from all the hot weather? did you check him over ?

Well you may be lucky, but there is generally more than one mite, you have done everything correctly, I would just keep him on kitchen towel for at least a month then repeat the process, make sure you cleaned all the plants and hides as well. Being on kitchen towel should help you spot any mites that may be in there also any that die as a result of the treatment. Any other questions just ask.
