Posted - 20/12/2013 : 11:57:59 I have a 350g female that has gone off her food and has not eaten in over a month. I know they can be fussy eaters at times but she is still striking and lots of tongue flicking, just not actually coiling and eating. she has always been aggressive and will bite me if she gets the chance, so could it be that she is just nervous? nothing has changed in her set up and has been left alone apart from weekly feeding. any tips would be greatly received |

Posted - 21/12/2013 : 22:22:44 I found my Royal to be quite a shy snake and found sneaking a rat into the vivarium just before I put the lights off and went to bed the most effective way to get him to eat. It's worth a try just to see if strike feeding etc is stressing her enough to decide to not eat but as above they don't have to eat all the time and occasionally our schedule and theirs is out of sync. They do get back to it eventually. Mine currently hasn't eaten for 8 weeks. Nothing unusual specially at this time of year for him this is quite normal.
Also as above as your snake is quite small you want to keep an eye on any weight loss. It shouldn't come to anything, they rarely lose more than 10% of their body weight and unless they were to do that I wouldn't worry. |

Posted - 20/12/2013 : 12:08:25 It's fairly common for them to go off feeding, often for no apparent reason. Try scaling back the feeding to every 10days-2weeks and monitor any weight loss
