I think i am dealing with another RI...

I noticed what i thought yesterday was a cough from Bliss..

Left her alone as i did not want to stress her, but today i got her out..to check her over

Now i am not sure, cos i know royals can puff up when they are stressed out...

but when i held her she let out a load of air and it sounded like when you let air out of a bag with a slight whining sound ...so i am thinking the worst right now..

she was ok after she relaxed a bit

does anyone know the dosage of Baytril for an 1050g royal?

i have some...but maybe not enough, i dont want to stress her out even more with a trip to the vets if i can avoid it, she absolutely hated traveling..and i dont want to make her worse

Dave how were you using F10 it to kill an RI? Did you do it without Baytril?

I would rather go this route if i can...

Thanks-)

some are just hissy.........
Queenie once hissed at me soon after a got him (first time!) i ignored him and picked him up anyway and he never bothered again after that!
wolfspirit Posted - 26/07/2009 : 13:35:59
took me some time to figure her out, but today i realised Bliss does not have an RI...

Went on you tube to listen to hissy royals and found one making exactly the same noise as she does..lol...

she is hissy..lol...and very loud when hissy...

hopefully in time she will get over this and calm down...she is much better now when i am in her viv, still have to watch her, but she is not striking at me now...

but it is kinda funny when she hisses at me...bless her....

well i am really starting to think it is not an RI cos i was feeding one of my royals today, and Bliss was up the glass for the rat she could obviously smell it...

she is due a feed tomorrow...so we will see...if she takes it then i will be happy but miffed..lol..

She feeds and sheds well and shows no signs of distress or anything, just squeaks when being returned to her viv or if she is pulled back from escaping over the back of the sofa!!

Dont know if this helps, but thought you might like to know!!!

thats what Bliss did...

thanks Kashie;-) was that a royal?

she is not huffy and puffy now..lol..

still going to Neb her for a few days anyway...it wont hurt her...

if it is going to be an RI i guess the other signs will start showing soon as she has been here 11 days now.

Yes she is a royal and seems to get upset when being put to bed or told shes not allowed to go somewhere.....its quite funny to hear!!

i'd keep your temps up, no handling, provide branches to allow her to perch with her head lowered to enable any mucous to drain, prolly do the F10 neb in the viv too for a few days to see if it works rather than jumping staight in with the Baytril and stressing her out when administering it
keep us posted hun... haven't spoken to you for aaaaaages! blinking MSN!

yeah i think i will go the f10 neb in her viv, is a good idea...it wont do her any harm either...

but i am still leaning towards stuck shed

will shout you if anything changes...

she is still feeding ok...or was last feed...

This is for Ali i guess..

had to get Bliss out today as she had been toilet and was lying in it, so took the chance to check her over again..

she still has some kind of faint whistling sound, this is not all the time, and not till just before i put her away, i only had her out for around five minutes.

There are NO other signs of RI...no mucus no runny nose no gaping nothing...

She shed recently so is not going into shed,

This is my question, either there is a bit of shed stuck and i cant see it or...

could this be something down to her being underweight or something?

Thanks Spor

so far she seems ok, but i have only had her just over a week and ri's can take time to fully come out, but i have left her totally alone now in between feeds, and am hoping if she did have the beginnings of one that her own immune system has kicked in and is doing what it should..

she is still yawning though, so am keeping a close eye....

she seems fixated on staring, which is a concern, though not with her head up i hasten to say..
