I picked up a adult pair of royals the other day i was told they was a male and female so thought great also got told they was over 1kg in weight
turns out they both male and no where near that mark but wasnt gonna leave them cause of the mess they were in, they are nearly 4yrs old and are around the 700g mark
the main problem i have is the fact they have alot of old shed thta looks tight they have had a soak and also a damp hide (which they dont use as i dont think they have ever had a hide as they dont use the normal one either) av tried gently rubbing the skin with a soft damp cloth which aint don anything either its so bad on 1 of the boys that his head looks swollen esp around the eyes (they have been checked by a herp vet and blood test as i asked for them as they hadnt been kept clean either but they all came back clear which is good) the problem is this shed, is there anything i can use like veg oil or something to help soften this skin? il post pics once they uploaded to photo bucket, the bigger 1 of the 2 is the worst and is the 1 am worried about
or am i just worrying about nothing?

im not sure at the mo if il keep them both they do have some nice markings and show the het pied markers and i know that dont mean they are het pied but it also dont mean there not and would be nice to find out but of course that means 2 het females as well lol, at the mo i just wanna get some serious weight on them as they have so much loose skin its ugly,
on a good note they both took 2 med rat weaners last night with a very violent strike i jumped lol (i know they could take bigger but they had been on large mice and didnt want to scare them with a big rat lmao, plus they did struggle to eat them cause they wasnt used to the size) so fingers crossed they should be looking good in know time and can get there size rat moved up to the size they should be on

i'm sure you'll have them looking great with a bit of time. Do you think you'll hold on to them, seeing ask you were after breeding pair?

have you got a tub you can leave him in for 24 hours with lots of damp kitchen roll/tissue, and a warm place to keep him so he does not get cold?

It will probably loosen up after this or even come off on its own...

i did this with one of mine for eyecaps and they were off come the morning,

I would also try ripped up news paper in a pillow case and make sure the paper is damp and then put the royal in the pillow case and tie a knott in it and then put between the hot and cold end of viv makes a mini sauna which helped me out once and as they go through the news paper the skin seems to fall off

it looks as tho its more than just 1 shed hats been left on its that thick in places but luckly enough no eye caps left on
i wont be able to get shed aid till weds cause my local pet shop dont stock it and am doing the daily soaking but it just dont seem to be doing anything he just looks sooo uncomfortable

Repti Shedding Aid - aids in removing dry sheds from snakes and lizards.

I paid £5.49 for this, as a 'just in case' It is very good, and safe to spray on the eyecaps.

Just bathe daily, eventually it will come. Good luck.
