right, to update you all, as you all now i found out last monday, about1.5 weeks ago that i ahve mites, been fighting it, keep bathing them and everything, then on sunday i foundout that bow is inshed as she was looking very dull, then on tuesday she has milky eyes, so she is def in shed, but on monday bullet was also looking very dull, so suspected him to be in shed, and today he has milky eyes so is as well in shed
i got both them out to give them there usual bath and olive oil treatment (not done it in a few days as thought i would wait till after shed, but thought after best to carry on doing it) when i got bow out she was all coiled up, and all her skin on one side was all wrinly, i put it down to her being all coiled up and it just being a slight fatty bulge bits, but when i untangled her, it was still there, it is as if her skin and scales are tight, so is causing it to wrinkle up
i tried to take a few photos, but none of them are very good, here is the best one

i thought it was maybe that she was dehydrated even though she has water in her bowl every day, so thought the bath would do her good, but it didn't make any difference. what do you think it is??? is it to do with the shed?

Due to the oil.

well she shed last night, i went upstairs to find a bit of a piece ofhead on the outside of her hide, so quickly took it out and had a look, you could see all the mites that had been in her eyes, so kept a close eye and kept cleaning tank out to make sure any ites where gone before they had a chance to get onto her new skin lol
strange thing though, there were loads of tiny pieces of scales in her tank, as in coloured pieces, like abrowny colour, and on the shed as well, they were everywhere, when you shaked a piece of shed they all came off, is this normal, never seen it before
checked her this morning and she only has a tiny piece on her tail so she will be getting a bath to get that off and then another olive oil treatment

Probably just the odd shed coming up.

Let's hope you don't need a vet - just some of the experts on here to help you out!
reptiledanny Posted - 30/12/2010 : 17:22:47
so do i, as at the moment im skint with only 30 quid left, so hoping it is just the shed and not a vets visit, although if it needs to be a vets visit parents will lend me the money and ill pay them back after i have got money for the things iv sold

Ah, I see, sorry, I saw it as normal skin with loose crumply bits - rather like what you see on your hands if you've been washing up. Yes, I can see what you mean now that I've looked again. Hope it is just to do with her shed though.
reptiledanny Posted - 30/12/2010 : 17:14:31
thanks bats, its more the tight skin that i am wondering about, it doesn't seem natural and bullet has never had it when he is in shed

Umm, I'd make an educated guess that perhaps the olive oil baths are loosening her skin prematurely? You'll know of course that the oil makes the shed skin disintegrate when it does come off.

She looks fine otherwise, and I'm sure she's in no discomfort. Probably have a very easy shed with the oil bath treatment.

I expect more experienced people will have seen this before though.

All the best with her.
