Hiya,
I could do with a bit of advice, Flo stopped feeding 4 weeks ago and although im not too worried just yet as she seems very perky and healthy. I figured it could just be a seasonal thing?

Well last night had me a tad confused... I draped a yummy rat over a log in haute cuisine style and out she came for a sniff as usual, I was convinced she would go straight back in her hide as she has for the last few weeks but no! After some nudging and stroking and a lot of time elapsing she took it by the tail and gave it a good thrashing! She often takes her food tail end first so i was so happy to see the tail disappear and its arse in her gob! she dragged it through her water dish and went under the cold hide and i didn't see what happened next.
A few moments later she sloped off to the hot hide and i went to bed content that she had eaten.

This morning i find the minx had tricked me! she had dropped the rat and left it.

So... Do i try again tonight now that shes in the mood or is it too soon?
Do i give her a smaller weaner or go back to mice to tempt her?
Do i leave her alone for another week before trying her on food again?

Sorry to ramble on but she is a worry!

Well, there i was, all overjoyed at Flo's new found apetite and she goes all dull on me, pink belly and yes, you guessed it....blue eyes!
So my thursday menu of mouse with rat for afters may have to wait. Will try her tomorrow instead just in case!

Blue eyes is good! She's growing!

Good that she's got at least more nutrition in. Then she can go another 4 weeks and you won't have to worry too much. Although, it might be that she's done with her fast. Yeay.

Well, good old Flo! Congrats!

If not, instead of two mice, you could try a mouse followed by a rat.

Ok,thanks for the tip, i plan to give her a rat in 5 days so hope she will take it.

Congrats, just be aware that mice smell and taste quite different to rats, so try not to give too many in case your snake decides they only want to eat mice. Then you have another problem

Very pleased for you and snakey, I did have my fingers crossed but I won't take any credit, it was all Flo. I'm sure your relieved.

WOOOOHOOOO!
She struck like a demon!
1 large mouse devoured, the second is being rapidly defrosted. They only weigh 26grams each so not a big meal but good enough!

I'm so happy!

Just been to local reptile shop and was advised to try her on something smaller like a large mouse to try and temp her back.
Its being served in an hour or so, so fingers crossed!

I had 1 mouse left about 3 weeks ago so i tried her on it but she left that too.
Might go and buy another though, cant hurt to try again.

Valhalla ignored her rat last night for the 3rd week running, I rubbed a wet mouse all over the rats head and she went for it straight away, might be worth trying that if you have any mice at hand.

Just a quick update, Tried Flo on a rat last night and she showed no interest at all so will give her another 5 days.
I know i dont need to worry but i cant help myself.

ye i would leave it until next feed, that way, like BE sed, he will be more hungry
sandi Posted - 05/01/2011 : 11:33:30
Thanks BE, I will do just that!
Blackecho Posted - 05/01/2011 : 10:44:22
Wait 5 days, will do her no harm and may even have her more hungry.
