The humidity is about 67% in the viv, is there a way to get it down reasonably fast? theres not a snake in there, but there will be in an hour or so.

lol - ziska still huffing and cross because despite no humidity probs i haven't filled viv with a big pack of mice lol...please forgive lower case as emily the cat is on my knee so i have to hold laptop with one hand and type with other...emily sends regards lol |

I'm thinking if rice can soak up moisture out of phones that have been for a swim would it be any good for reducing humidity in a vivarium. Not exactly something required very often in a royal viv but I wonder how much rice you'd need to make a noticeable difference. |

Attaching a new sponge to the top of the viv or placing one inside somewhere also helps.
I stole got that idea from a member on another forum for my beardie vivs, it worked well in there. |

LOL - congrats!
I have a private theory that they can yawn when acclimatising themselves to/out of interest in different/new/enticing smells; the jacobsen's organ is in the roof of the mouth after all. I've seen snakes yawn when getting interested in prey. Cats do something similar - have you ever seen a cat sniff and then leave its mouth agape? It's getting the full benefit of a new or interesting smell. But just my opinion lol.
You'll see that there are loads of opinions on humidity ...me I'm staying out of it in future, more peaceful lol...
Sounds like she's settling in well and having a good time exploring - you will have to post up some pics soon ...congrats again! |

I just picked her up, now she's having a cruise around her viv.
Am I REALLY lucky to have seen her yawn twice in 10 minutes already, or is she trying to breathe in that humnidity? It wasn't that humid where she was before. She's not been fed this week yet , cause I picked her up just before food day. |
