Posted - 31/12/2011 : 19:37:30 I weighed him before his feed and at 4 months he weighs 398g..that's the heaviest going by the chart.
He's still being fed a small mouse every 4 days..does this need to be altered?
  Thanks Janie |

He strikes and swallows within a couple of minutes..Slinky struggled a bit..stretched out backwards trying to digest then fell backward..scared the hell out of me. He seems alright now tho. |

Posted - 31/12/2011 : 20:25:45 snakes will always want more they are opportunistic feeders, Dont know what size your boa is so cant comment but if its a little one a small mouse should do. Wold try and get it onto rats though ;) |

Posted - 31/12/2011 : 20:23:39 ok thanks..i'll put them both on 5 day intervals. One small mouse for Fea enough? He seems to be looking for another after swallowing. |

Posted - 31/12/2011 : 19:57:15 would have the boa on the same feeding schedule as all they will be doing is permananty digesting food. 4 days is too close a period for a feeding schedule. Dont worry bout the boa looking small in comparison boas and royals have nothing in common so you cannot use one as a comparison to the other.
Edit: the problem with permanantly digesting is that all the juices the snake need to digest food requires a build up if you are feeding that regular this cannot build up so it is possible that there is old food digesting and new food possibly rotting. |

Posted - 31/12/2011 : 19:56:02 I think that weight's a record - I've just said on your feeding thread that he's a chunky monkey - but you can get these really big royals, like Lotabob's Duke for instance.
Yeah, as GMac says, I'd feed every 5 days under 400g, 400-800g every 7 days ....
  398g ...whew! |

                Posted - 31/12/2011 : 19:47:26 Hi Gmac,
He left me a log last night, so yeah I guess that is his empty weight. So now we'll feed him at 5 day intervals and keep Fea (Boa) on 4 for now as he looks thin in comparison.
Thanks for your reply :) |

Posted - 31/12/2011 : 19:43:42 is this an empty weight as royals do tend to hold on from going to the toilet weekly, Would also reduce the feeding to every 5 days every 4 is a bit much. |
