Posted - 19/01/2012 : 20:10:35 Not noticed much wrong but she spends pretty much all her time in the damp moss hide I put in I think she must be going into another shed as eyes are fairly cloudy, belly is creamy colour and skin has dulled down. Are there any other reasons for cloudy eyes? Thanks again for advice |

Posted - 19/01/2012 : 19:20:50 That's good! A more accurate weight is obtained when you weigh them after they've made a mess, but she's obviously doing well, and at that weight, feeding every 5 days is fine. |

Posted - 19/01/2012 : 19:04:40 Another thing is I just weighed her again and she has put on a masive 45g in only 13 days! And yes I did check the scales, she went from 150 to195! And all before feeds. Currently been feeding her every 4-5 days |

Posted - 19/01/2012 : 18:52:37 My knowledge is limited even less so than BATS but I do believe it is possible for them to go into shed back to back, and whilst it is usually after a trauma of some sort they always surprise us so I guess It's possible... |

Posted - 19/01/2012 : 18:27:56 I've heard they can, but understood this was generally because of illness or skin problems, which obviously isn't the case with your girl.
It's claimed that a shed can follow fast on the heels of a bad shed - but have never seen this with my lot (had a few bad sheds in the autumn heatwave but nobody went into a shed soon after and they've been fine since.)
My Shiva (cb)09) came to me having recently shed - and sprang a surprise shed on me only a month after the previous one. And it was a bad shed, but he's been fine, eating and thoroughly healthy and not gone into blue at time of writing, 2 months after.
So it's possible, it would seem, for a rapid shed cycle without apparent cause. (This is just in my own experience of course.)
Hope this helps. |
