I am a bit concerned as whenever Sas goes on his heat mat he seems to vibrate! Is this normal? His mat is in his hide although he has a ceramic overhead. He seems to like sitting on it. Does he need both?

I dont have a clue what it could be mate just keep an eye on his belly for swollen Patches or shriveled scales just incase the heat mat is burning him. What is your thermostat set too on your heat mat?

It's as he's moving either on or off it. It's a really weird sensation! He is 18 mnth old and weighs 800g.

I would just stick with the ceramic mate i also have a heat mat but now corey is getting bigger i will replace it with a ceramic. And in which way does he vibrate is it when he is stretchin upwards or when hes motionless? With royals being so heavey bodyed its not a good idea to have a heat mat as the weight of the snake will cause hot spots on the mat and could burn your snake. Its ok whilst their young and light but i would just stick to the ceramic dude with a pulse thermostat to acheave your correct temp

not heard that before

theres no need to have both a heat mat and a ceramic. personally i would take the mat out and just use the ceramic
