Does anyone know where I could actually buy an incubator? I've seen the topics on how to make your own one, but to be honest I'm worried I'm going to get it wrong..

Saying this, I don't actually have any eggs yet! Maybe wishful thinking ;)

Are incubators really easy to make? Or is it easy to get it wrong?

most local pet shops or aquatics shops will give you them for free

Where do you get the polystyrene boxes from guys? :)

Try one at the bottom with some water bottles laying on it and do a test
If it gets to temp fine it's a win
If not get another heat mat for the back

Good luck

Be confident and make your own, all you need is a good thick polystyrene box, a heat mat and a pulse stat. Its more rewarding.

here is one i made at the start of this year

ive since added water bottles to the bottom
so they sit on the heat mat to help the temps get back up to where they were
and move 2 of the fans down the bottom pointing right to left
id say it worked pretty well for me

didnt cost much £30 for the faulty fridge from ebay
and i already had the 2 mats and a stat laying around

and i have this ready to convert (will fit 10 9l rubs in)
when the above incubator starts its life as i hognose incubator

I'll only have one clutch this year (hopefully!) but obviously once I start breeding royals I may not be able to stop.. ;) can't wait to get some morphs! I think I might have a go at making one myself.. might as well pass the time waiting for some eggs haha

Thanks Mark I'll take a look :)

Hi Jodi, I see your around the essex area. Why not pop into Dagenham and chat to Dave at http://www.facebook.com/daves.dagenhamessex?fref=ts
He will knock you up a home made incubator if your worried about making one yourself

if you got deep pockets
http://www.pro-racks.com/prohatch.html

or the ones you can buy from reptile shops
you may get one clutch in there

its not that hard doing one with a poly box
and try play around with it to get the right temps
