Posted - 10/11/2012 : 12:34:11 My bee is now in her 3rd winter and a smidge over 1400g. She is feeding like a champ. Should I stick in my male lesser now? |

Posted - 12/11/2012 : 16:18:08 I started the breeding process last year with Savina when she hit 1300g, I carried on feeding during it and she eventually ended up 1500g while gravid, after laying 5 eggs (1 slugged) she went down to just over 1000g but fortunately suffered no ill health. She is now back up to weight at 1500g ready for this breeding season. Here is a chart showing her weight, you can guess where the eggs were laid...

Posted - 12/11/2012 : 15:52:57 I would recommend you wait till she is at least 1500g breeding too early can cause health problems apart from the fact that every egg she has will take an average of 100grams of her weight, and often you get a higher proportion of slugs and not fertile eggs |

Posted - 10/11/2012 : 21:37:27 I`d wait till you hit the 1500g, purely from personal experience as i`ve had a female Bumblebee who was eating like a pig and at 1450g went on a 7 month fast. |

Posted - 10/11/2012 : 13:16:18 If that was me I'd be feeding her up on the max 15% She will soon get to 1500grams Doing that if she's smashing down the rats She will get there no worries I know its only 100grams
I waiting for my pastel till she was 1500gram She was 1400 last November but wasn't feeding Then she started to feed again jan and by feb she was 1500g
That's just me Best to be patient and not to rush her After all it's her Heath and well being that comes first Saying that it won't hurt to put a male in or wait It's your choice
What every you decide to do Good luck :) |
