Posted - 26/11/2012 : 08:35:24 Okay so my two royals have been breeding now since the beginning of October, and in that time I've seen about 6 locks.
However the last two times I've put them in together they haven't been locked at all (from what I've seen) and just stay at opposite sides of the vivarium.
Both are eating every time they are fed, and as far as I can tell they aren't going into shed. Any suggestions guys? Thanks :) |

Posted - 03/01/2013 : 15:53:58 Thats what I thought.. Surely she can't be gravid yet. But a month ago they were locking every time I put them together but now my male won't go near her :( |

Posted - 03/01/2013 : 11:39:41 Seems a quick time for her to become gravid in, mine were locking left right and centre since september last year but I didn't see any signs of follicle growth or even becoming gravid until January/February |

Posted - 03/01/2013 : 11:26:44 Still no signs of eggs.. and my girl is eating like crazy again!
Put them back together last night and the usual happened.. male went straight to the warm end under the hide and my girl was wagging her tail like mad but no locks. The male definitely isn't showing any more interest in her :(
They have had about 6 definite locks from October to November.. so I'm hoping he's just avoiding her because she is gravid but I can't see any signs..
What do you guys think? |

Posted - 26/12/2012 : 21:48:35 Yeah she does look a bit fat especially towards the base of her tail considering she has eaten in a couple of weeks. But other than that I haven't seen any other signs.. Although she is a bit restless and moving around her viv more than usual.. |

Posted - 24/12/2012 : 22:56:02 I think it is hard to tell most of the time. Sometimes they look all bumpy all along their bodies and u might be able to see a bulge in her stomach as if she has just eaten a larger meal than normal lol. Hopefully you are lucky and she lays some eggs soon :) |

Posted - 24/12/2012 : 20:22:00 Ohh I'm suddenly nervous and excited! I didn't think she would lay this quick I thought I'd have to wait ages?
Shes not super fat though which is what I was expecting haha |

Posted - 24/12/2012 : 16:19:18 Turn the incubator on lol sounds good with the colour changing and stuff it might of been the pre lay shed so she might lay in week or tewo if she is gravid |

Posted - 24/12/2012 : 11:58:12 Okay my male definately isn't interested in my girl anymore! He was just bring moody and coiled up in the corner and my girl was wagging her tail like mad and is very restless. I can't tell by feeling/looking at her whether she is building or not.. But her colours seem to have gotten lighter and she's got a lot of blushing that I've never noticed before. Oh and she shed for the first time since pairing about 3 weeks ago
Any suggestions? |

Posted - 19/12/2012 : 17:22:17 Oh I'm praying she lays! She's shed a couple of weeks ago as well :)
What a lovely Christmas present that would be.. |

Posted - 19/12/2012 : 17:00:15 Bit of an update.. my female now isn't eating but other than that I've seen no signs of ovulation (although this is my first time breeding so I've probably missed something!)
Going to pair them again tonight and if I don't get any more locks shall I just give up? Lol :) |

Posted - 26/11/2012 : 17:09:14 My girl has always been a terrible feeder, she once fasted for 6 months. But since I've started breeding her she's finally eating rats instead of large mice, and has been striking a lot quicker than usual! I think a bit of loving has improved her appetite haha! :) my boy on the other hand is being a bit more fussy than usual and not eating as much as he usually does.. |

Just to be different, last year I caught mine in a lock, and she didnt stop eating until the time she laid the eggs. |

Posted - 26/11/2012 : 10:23:36 Ahh okay! I won't attempt it then haha
I've just been in to check on her and it looks like she's going in to shed.. so I assume this is why there hasn't been any locks at all the last couple of times. |

Posted - 26/11/2012 : 09:05:05 She doesn't look like she's 'lumping' on anything just seems normal.. although she has got one hell of an appetite at the moment which is especially rare for her! I've looked out for if she's got a bend in her tail or wrapping around her water bowl, but she's just staying under her hide at the hot end of the vivarium, and has done for the past week.. |
