Ive heard you dont want a big, older male for breeding as they can be lazy, where as the smaller, younger ones are more...er...randy.
We are still talking about Royals now, yea? |

Posted - 27/08/2009 : 12:36:01 this is my personal preference here and not based on any knowledge at all, but i would rather not breed a male unless it was as near to the female weight as possible, partly cos i would worry that the female would hurt the male if he was much smaller, partly cos i dont want my "baby" breeding rofl. if that's a bad idea, best let me know LOL |

Posted - 27/08/2009 : 09:33:23 LOL, i regularly take advice from male royals...
I've been reading quite a few different websites and as you can imagine you get varying advice. A lot of sites say minimum 400-500g but ideal size of 800g(ish). |

Why do they need to be over 450g?
I've read somewhere that the bigger the male the better, as the larger they are the more sperm they produce which obviously increases chances of fertalisation. I think thats why they recommend 800g+ |

Posted - 17/08/2009 : 08:49:53 but surely being that small would be a risk breeding from them... |
