Posted - 07/01/2010 : 22:51:31 i am taking her to the vets to have her done costing me £29. too be honest i would rather pay out for vet to do it
our local reptile 'specialists' insist:
1. you do not need a thermostat 2. crickets can be fed (they have a royal in a tank and there was locusts in it!) 3. snakes can be kept together regardless of what snake it is 4. you cant sex a snake till its at least 1 years old
therefore i think i will pass on getting the shop to sex my snake |

im in hastings, our vets can do it, but they charge £25 just to see the pet. So that plus however much they are going to charge to have her probed
What about a Reptile shop, my local one probes for free. |

Posted - 06/01/2010 : 07:58:29 Actually yoou need someone like a vet to pop the snake to identify for you. By popping its sex organs out (real, i'm not insane)quote: Originally posted by BattyWitch
I've heard something about how you can tell the sex by the length/width of the tail- is this true?

Posted - 24/12/2009 : 13:16:14 I no this is wierd buh everytime ive got a new snake ive been able to tell the difrence between male and female because the way there head sits. with a male its more up and normal sits up like a slanted l. ive noticed with a female she hardly never does this. when ive had them probed ive always been right |

Posted - 27/11/2009 : 15:00:21 ah cool thanks which means when i get paid im gonna go get that sorted out, unfortunately there is no one near me that has enough experience in them to do it for me and i am not going to do it myself, so it means a trip to the vets which is likely to be expensive knowing vets |

i have always wondered myself whether Boo is a 'she'. The pet shop told me that I wont be able to find out what sex she is until she is a year old. Is this true???
No, they can be sexed as soon as they hatch. |
