Posted - 10/06/2010 : 23:22:15 hi, i live around 20 miles from nearest vet who will attempt to sex my royals. he has stated he cannot guarantee success or accuracy as its not a precise science to him.
so rather than travel by taxi and pay a vet who doesnt appear to know what hes doing, i decided to hunt thru the forums for advice on popping. then i checked out youtube and found loads of royal / ball python clips.
my question - is there a max age / size for popping or not ? does it work on older snakes ?
since im not sure on age of my snakes (theyre about 2ft each and the thickness of a large round battery), i dont want to try this if it could hurt them in some way but i would like to breed them at a later date so something has to be done.
can any1 advise please ? |

Posted - 11/06/2010 : 00:29:51 ok firstly.don't let anyone prob your snakes if they do not know what they are doing as they could cause serious damage. so you have made the right call there by not going to that vets. popping really is best done when snake are younger and yours size wise sound like thy would still be young enough. as with probing, popping a snake can also cause damage if done badly. I would suggest finding some one who has the experience to do it for and ask them to show you how it is done. there may be someone on the forum near you who could do it.
