Hi everyone, long time, well after coming back last week from a few months travelling i was blessed with 7 little gifts on the 7th June. I was over the moon to do the usual morning checks to find her coiled round a clutch. I knew she was close because she had spent the last few days curled up in a ball. so much so i kept lifting up the rub to see if anything was underneath her.

The sad part is that 2 of the eggs were slugs , 1 actually being rejected from the clutch. Another 2 are boob eggs with the final being good sized white eggs.

once i saw her so tightly coiled i got my home made incubator heated up and ready to go anlong with the vermiculite mix. humidity is stable at 96% but temps keep creeping up to 91F even after what should be turning the thermostat down by 2F.

For those that don't know this was from breeding a 18month old 750g bumblebee to a 4yr old (approx) 1.8kg female. The egg clutch weighed 356g including one of the slugs as i didn't have the guts to separate it. Fingers are now crossed for 60 days.

when I went selecting my butter and pastel from daz at titanium reps he'd just hatched 5 eggs from the same crossing bumblebee to normal, got 4 bees and 1 pastel female (who will be coming home with me once she's had a few more feeds) sometimes the morph gods smile

Cheers Steve. This is my first time trying to breed them. Not sure if you've seen the other thread but basically i put my male bumble bee to 2 normal females. This gives me a 25% chance / egg of getting a normal, spider, pastel or bumble bee. I paired them from 1st Nov - Mid Feb. As you've read 1 female has laid and back feeding the other i don't think took. She may just be late though. Fingers crossed. Almost half way there.

Check out crazyman Trouble feeding post. He's got youngsters on the way as well.

How exciting! Many congrats Royalbob. Do keep us all updated. My son has it in mind to breed from Kate when she is old/heavy enough (will mean me getting a male morph I'm guessing...) so this is going to be one interesting thread to watch. Do keep us posted and try not to have too many sleepless nights!

Thanks GMac. Do you know if they usually shed straight after?

hodgie Posted - 09/06/2011 : 22:12:22
Congrats, nothing wrong with boobed eggs from what i`ve heard, just means you`ll have some real little ones.
GMac Posted - 09/06/2011 : 22:10:17
Nice one on the eggs royalbob, personally don't really see too much of an issue with the inc creeping upto 91 its not prolonged at that temp so once its been on for a while it will level out.
