a friend of mine is breeding her royals for the first time, they've locked about 10 times so far and the female has shown some lumping. She wants to know how long it is between the lumping up and when u see the obvious bulge? she's been told so many different things by other ppl i said i'd come here and ask the ppl that know! :)

My advice would be to buy them and have everything ready just in case. Even if sowing their wild oats, so to speak, ends in a crop failure, spare equipment never comes amiss - it will come in handy if you have to set up an emergency rub for a new arrival for instance.

I'd buy it all by the time you notice her getting chunky with eggs.

The problem is, at what stage do I go and buy a heat mat, stat etc to build the incubator.

Thanks for looking for it Kelf :) she didnt do any of the cool down because it wasnt exactly planned, the male and female were only together for minutes while she sorted a problem out in the males rub, by the time she'd sorted it they were locked! She just needs to know how longs it takes between the female being 'a string of sausages shape' to when she's actually ovulated (getting the one big belly bulge). not sure if i'm explaining it properly they've locked about 8/10 times in the last two months, she's seeking the cool end and has been sausage shaped, she also shed a couple of weeks ago. so how long til she starts seeing the bulge? thanx for all ur help so far

Ah, yes I am in a similar position also, a clear time line would be useful :)

I don't really know as I've yet to breed
What I plain on doing is just leave her to it and wait till them nice litle eggs pop out

After 2-3 breeding seasons you will sort of work out times and stuff

Or

Someone that's breed might be along shortly to tell you ;)

thanks d3lboy, thats the site she's been using but it doesn't give a time line, it just says what to look for. Her female has been prefering the cool end, and has that lumpy look bit it doesn't say how long til she has the big belly bulge. Was just looking for some kinda time line. But thank anyway :)
