Posted - 25/03/2009 : 16:58:35 Been looking into getting a spider royal for my birthday in a few months but after reading daz's topic on wobbling and see this video i have been totaly put off. This spinner looks totaly stress out by it all and if you look at her other vid where she has removed the second royal from the rub it seems better, shame really those spinners look gorgeous.

Actually, ALL spiders do it to some degree. Most of them are hardly noticeable. That's why you hear a lot of spider owners say, "but my spider doesn't wobble".
I have one of those - my spider doesn't wobble... until he holds his head up for a longer period of time (curious or ready to strike at a rat) then you see his head start to "nod" like his neck muscles is not quite strong enough to "hold the pose".
I have to tell you, I love my spider. He is the easiest guy to take care of. Eats like a champ EVERY WEEK, very good with handling, very well adjusted, not head-shy at all, and tolerates even my 5-year-old's clumsiness. And he's got a reduced pattern that I know would make some great combos if I decide to breed him (I'm not into breeding).
Anyway, here's a good article on spiders from Adam Wysocki at 8ballpythons. http://forum.8ballpythons.com/blog/?p=5 |

Posted - 26/03/2009 : 16:48:23 Don't want to hi-jack, but my royal always does a slight wobble when I'm feeding him, and it's noticable at other times too, just to as extreme as that video. He's a normal so why would he be doing the little side to side wobble he does? |

Posted - 26/03/2009 : 09:41:24 Really? I have confused myself
Edit - Ahh I get it now, for some reason I assumed the parent would be a homozygous Pinstripe. |
Blackecho |
Posted - 25/03/2009 : 22:23:50 50% chance per egg of being Pinstripe. |
matty18714 |
Posted - 25/03/2009 : 21:41:37 Because the gene for Pinstripe is dominant, all off spring will he Visual (Homozygous) Pinstripe. |

Yes Pinstripe is Dominant.
Great, looks like im going to try for a pinstripe for my birthday then.Any idea of what percentage of hatchlings would be pinstripe if you bred pinstripe with norm? |

Both these morphs appear in the wild, so we cannot say it is a selective breeding issue really.
If they did appear in the wild, surly they wouldnt last very long? |
