I have a question..
When i went to the rep shop the weekend, they only had large weaners, no small or medium ones, so i only picked up two, and i picked the smallest ones i could find, they are around three quarters of an inch smaller than a small rat but much bigger than anything i have given peanut before..
Will he do any damage trying to get this down?
Frozen they are fine, but when they defrost they will go squishy and be bigger width wise wont they?
I know he could take a bigger weaner with ease now, but not sure he could take one this big.. |

ok, this is the weaner...in its frozen state i would say he would handle it, but it would take him some time.
this was his last meal and he was not stretching that much..it was easy for him..

If its not more than 1.5 x girth of snake then it'll be fine. |

How old/heavy is Peanut?
I tend to go 10-15% of body weight, so a 200g snake would get a 20-30g rat. |

Peanut is a year old in a couple of weeks,
just weighed him and he is 350g but that is not empty as he pooped around 8 days ago and had a weaner last week...
the rat is 45 grams so it is to big isnt it? |

10 % of 350 = 35g 15% of 350 = 52.5g might be okay? |

That will be fine for 99% of Royals and very unlikely you'll get a monster male. |

Ive found an issue recently finding smaller weeners, so went onto the larger small ones. I didnt think at first he would do it, but he has been fine to be honest! In fact he is growing something chronic now and i feel a bit guilty feeding him fuzzies for two weeks as they ran out of weeners! Bet they didnt touch the sides. |

well he took it, took him 8 minutes from start to finish.
So i am happy now, i will leave him seven or eight days before his next feed after this though...
Bless him... |
