Saw this on the dark size.

while it does look a little large, it makes me think Irwin could do with something a lot bigger!

he is coming up about 2 foot possibly and his thickest point is just under about two inches.

at the moment i feed him on small - medium mice

old pic from about four weeks ago, but you can see he hardly has to put much effort in to fit it down.

Aim for prey items roughly the girth of the snake and not more than 1.5x girth.

For Royals I also aim for 10-15% of the body weight, so a 200g snake could have a 20-30g rat.

Small - Medium mice are probably only suitable for a hatchling royal, if I were you I'd get onto Rat Fluffs/Weaners asap.

Ra is (admitedly underweight) about 110g and 1.5 ft and i'm feeding him on large mice (would be apropriately sized rats if my local shop sold them)

BE's advice is sound, he got me through my first big weaner rat with my royal. I was thinking all the bad stuff cos it was so big, well in my eyes, but BE was right he would be fine and he was...

i was feeding my hatchling royal medium mice and now he is touching the 200g mark he is on 20-25grm rats
