Will a timer switch do ok for dropping the temp slightly at night?
How much should I being paying for a normal royal? I don't want to be ripped off. I thought it would be £100, but I now get the impression it more likely £50-£60.
If i'm using a heat mat will a mat stat be sufficent or is a habistat pulse proportional thermostat recommended?

1. Dont bother dropping the temps at night, a small decrese will happen naturaly.
2. You should have no trouble finding a normal for £60.
3. A mat stat will be fine. It should give you a +/- 3*C temp range. However buying a pulse stat may be better in the long run because it can be used with both a heat mat and a ceramic bulb (which is what you may want to heat your snakes viv with as it gets bigger). They are also more accurate keeping the temp within one degree.
