are there any that are better than others...ie more reliable?
is it better to buy a bigger wattage or not?

| IMO the wattage doesnt matter if it is stated...as for make is one make better than others i dont know. |

| I bought one off ebay and it was fine. I'm using a normal red bulb at the moment, but have an infra-red on order so that it's darker for her at night. Hopefully that'll arrive today. |

| The normal red one was from ebay, but the infras are coming from Petzoo as I had a bit of a shopping list and wanted everything from one place if possible. The red bulb I had from ebay is a Euro Rep red night bulb, it was just as described and arrived in a day or two. I got my thermostat from ebay too. |
