i always use normal silicone but give it a good few days to dry for the fumes to clear and i get my glass from a local glazing firm for about £7 for 2 doors, just make sure you smooth the edges off.

You can get sheet glass cut from most good building merchants as well. If you are concern about which silicone to use you can always use aquarium safe silicone. you can find it on ebay.not really big difference in price.

If the glass is proving difficult to source or too pricey then you can always use 6mm perspex instead.

as above really...all glazers will stock 4mm glass and cut it to size. then just get them or take the edges off with a bit of sand paper (being careful of course)

i used RED plastics for 4mm and 5mm perspex, they were really good, cheap and quick delivery.

having recently spoken to an adhesives manufacturer, normal silicone continues to give off chemicals in small amount over a very long period of time, namely fungicides and antibacterial stuff, not just the day or so it takes for it to go off. they recommended NOT using normal stuff for fish or reptiles for this reason.
