have to say electric going of has been a bit of a concern i have had. where I am sometimes it goes of for hours and normally a few times a year. the first few minutes of which I am running round covering aquariums with tin foil and blankets to try and hold on to some heat. What would you recommend as the best way to maintain vivarium temps during power failures?

Has any one gone as far to buy a small emergency generator. If so could you recommend where to get one?

Ps. sorry about your bread. I bet you where really looking forward to that to with the smell of it baking breezing through the house.

Either (as you say) a car battery with an inverter that will power the vivs, or hot water bottles.

one of my old neighbours had a jenny.
everytime the leccy in the neighbourhood went down, him and his family would power up the noisy thing, then turn on all their lights. his missus would proceed to turn on the tv in the kitchen, open all the windows turn the volume up just loud enough so that we could hear it, but not make out what's being said, and he would stand out in his back garden talking very loudly, and very smugly about how he doesnt see why we all complain about power cuts....
i hated that neigbourhood.
sorry for the rant lol

well i won't want to be that neighbour. i just won' want anything to die.. at what temperatures do things start to get critical for snake ( Royals). If the viv were to drop to the lowest end of winter temps for a few hours what would be the out come as long as food had not just been taken?
