CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Job well done, I think.
Multis are smaller than rats. Which is why I use them to feed. Because I have a colony of them running around in their own viv out in the patio. I can keep them as pets as long as I can because they will not outgrow my 2-year-old royal. Rats, on the other hand gets too big once they reach adulthood. A breeder multi (the biggest size) is only the size of a medium rat.
Another good thing is they don't stink as much as mice and rats. My hamsters' viv has to be cleaned every 3 days otherwise the house will get ammonia-scented. The multis I only clean once a week and even then, the scent is not strong.
And they are very cute! That's the down-side. I can't feed them off. My kids have to "steal" them out of the viv to feed... See how cute they are:

I am very proud of her Anatess.
She has never fed on her own till she came to me, she had always been assist fed, and that must have stressed her right out.
She just needs to get some confidence in herself now and i am hoping she will be ok.
She has to take her next feed and i think then we will know we are on the right track. |

I have a feeling she's going to be a regular feeder from now on! Sometimes Royals just need to be assured that everything is going to be just fine. Now that she knows it's going to be fine, she won't have to worry about it next time! YEAY! |

the pups i have are no bigger than mouse fuzzies. |

I've heard other people say that while the royal is at the tail-end of the first rat to put the head of the 2nd rat right after. This tricks the royal into thinking it is 1 rat instead of 2.
I've never tried it though, so this is only "hearsay" at this point. |

I've heard and seen this done before although not with a royal so it does happen and in theory seems a good idea ... practically with a royal ... well its not going to happen is it, lol
So where would i find live multi's and was it 5 for £12 from that site? i phoned and asked but they said they would get back to me ... they didnt! |

I think that's what's putting me off growing my own multis. Sherman already takes a 90g+ large weaner a week at the moment and Godzilla will be eating that size and bigger in a couple of years and The Hoff is gonna grow now that he's finally eating. Rats would be more suited here just purely because of the size and weight that they get to. |
