Was reading the other day how it is not a good idea to put your water bowl near the heat source to increase the humidity as it can speed up the growth of bacteria/fungal in the water which your snake drinks from.
wot do you guys think...? |

Sounds like one of those things that strictly speaking is true, but doesnt matter
As long as the water is changed and bowl cleaned I cant see there being any serious problems. |

Definately won't be a problem as long as you change the water daily and wash the bowl thoroughly with a good quality detergent. |

as long as the bowl is clean that you're putting the fresh water into. exceptions are if you're adding something like Reptoboost to the water, i'd keep that away from the heat source as the rate of bacterial growth could be pretty quick. |

I agree with all of the above.
I move the waterdish around to get the ideal humidity. I've never had any problems.
I did have problems with spilling water on the hot-side substrate and not realizing it was wet there for a while. So, yeah, as long as you clean it constantly and make sure you take out substrate that gets spilled on. |

GP will love this one...lol
as the water is already 48 hours old already before it goes in the viv, i always add a tiny drop of F10 to the bottle of water before it goes into the bowl...
Bacteria will likely already be growing as the vivs are warm anyway.
if you worried about humidity, why not keep a moss box in there permanently then the snake can make the choice.....
is it for your royal? |

i was reading that the water temp should be around 72F-75f. so surely putting it at the warm end of viv wouldn't help.
just went searching to see if i could find were i was reading that but it must have been in one of the books i had.... |
