Hi all, ok just want to check if the weather is playing havoc with every ones humidity.

viv 1. temps 90f -78f humidity 41% .this is around where it settles
viv 2. temps 89.6f-81f humidity 42% . this viv drops down to 35% settled there yesterday for a lot of the day.

have been spraying to lift it but doesn't take to long to drop again.
I have put moist hides in both .Damp paper towels at minute going to pick up some moss on way to work. and have move water bowls closer to heat source.

aspen bedding( probably cause of problem?)
infra red heat.
digital hygrometers
digital thermometers

any advice beyond what I'm doing?

most people dont measure there humidity as royals require mostly 50-60% which is room level. They just mist or add moist hides when a shed is due.
If it is dropping due to the weather a would just mist it daily.

I would need to be misting every 15mins at the minute to try and maintain a 50%. will keep moist hides in and see if it levels out.
cheers

if you have a moss box i would not worry....

if the snake needs humidity it will seek it out..

Peanut sheds fine with or without using his moss box..

to much humidity is bad for royals anyway...

Never have had a moist hide in with mine. Humidity reads 54% and have had nothing but perfect sheds.

Hah, I must've sucked up all the humidity out of England. Humidity in my house in Florida is 78%. I had to keep a fan going to get the darn thing down!

It has been raining here almost everyday for the past 3 weeks! I'm not complaining though, as my first love - my vanda orchids - are loving it.

Snake owner since Oct 2008, so yeah, I'm no expert.

You sohuld not really be spraying the royal/enclosure. Could cause an RI with to much variation in humidity. 40-50% is fine! If its coming to shed and your worried add a moss box at around that time. Otherwise stop worrying.

its a hide (a margerine tub or ice cream tub with a hole cut in it (make sure there are no sharp bits tho) makes a good one) with damp sphagnum moss in it :D

How would you dampen the moss? Light spray, complete soak in a bucket of water?

I spray mine with a weak solutiuon of F10 just to kill any bacteria that might build up on it..

You can use just water...

i change my moss once every three weeks or so..

here is a good link on how to prepare it
